Bailey Richardson

Bailey leads the Community and Culture team at OpenAI, where they cultivate relationships with early adopters, including visual creatives, writers, educators, and internet creators. Through this work, Bailey helps spotlight innovative use cases of AI technology, enabling broader communities to learn from these pioneers and expand their impact.

From 2015 to 2021, Bailey co-founded and operated People & Company alongside Kai Sotto and Kevin Huynh. Their team focused on celebrating and supporting extraordinary community builders, producing a podcast series and authoring Get Together, a guidebook on building meaningful communities published by Stripe Press. The company’s success led to its acquisition by Substack in 2021.

Earlier in their career, Bailey played a pivotal role in growing Instagram’s early community as one of the platform’s first employees. They’ve also brought their expertise to leading organizations such as Substack, IDEO, StoryCorps, Pop-Up Magazine and The California Sunday Magazine, and SFMOMA. Bailey’s deep passion for fostering connections and building inclusive communities continues to shape their impactful work in the tech and creative industries.

Bailey joined the board in December 2024.
