Richard Lui
Richard Lui is a Peabody and Murrow award-winning journalist with more than 30 years of experience in media, technology, and business. For two decades, he has anchored news at MS NOW (formerly MSNBC), NBC News, and CNN Worldwide, and he remains one of the most dependable, authoritative anchors in journalism today. Alongside his journalism career, Lui has 15 years of business expertise, launching six brands across three tech cycles, including a patented fintech model co-developed with Citibank and a healthcare-focused narrative firm he founded in 2017.
Outside of work, Lui has traveled every other week for 10 years from New York to California to care for his father and mother, who have faced Alzheimer’s and dementia. This journey led him to direct the Oscar- and Grammy-qualifying documentaries Sky Blossom and UNCONDITIONAL, which premiered at the White House and U.S. Congress. He is now in production on two more films: To the Moon, on elected officials who are caregivers, and Dr. Hope, on the inventor of the HIV/AIDS treatment that has saved more than 32 million lives. Drawing on his years at Citibank and as a patented fintech entrepreneur, he invests professionally and personally in the care and brain economy as Principal, Care & Data Science, CAREGenome and Chief Impact Officer, Caregiving Moonshot (StartUp Health). He also serves as an AARP Caregiving Champion and an Alzheimer’s Association Celebrity Champion.
Lui serves on the boards of directors of the Committee of 100, CHC: Creating Healthier Communities, and APIAVote, and has held board seats at fintech and AI firms. He is a Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), a U.S. State Department Traveling Speaker, and a Senior Fellow at the German Marshall Fund (GMF). He authored Enough About Me (HarperCollins, 2021) and a 500-page “Impact at Work” risk report compendium launched at Davos and Cannes Lions.
